Abigail Sidikie Needs Your Help
While the focus for the Angels to Angels program is sponsoring the education of over 100 girls across Sierra Leone, we try to be there in other moments of need when we can. In 2014, we were able to supply rice & radios to all of our girls to help during the Ebola crisis. We are now faced with another opportunity to save a life.
One of our angels, Abigail Sidikie, is need of immediate life-saving heart surgery and we are asking for your help. Abigail is 16 years old and has a condition that is called HCM (hypertropiccardiomyopathy), and a bad mitral valve. HCM is the thickening of the muscles of the wall of the heart. Her heart does not function properly and she needs surgery this summer. She will most likely need a pacemaker as well.
Given the required surgery is not performed in Sierra Leone, Fatu has been assisting Abigail’s family to secure the right course of action. As a result, Abigail needs to travel with her mother overseas to a hospital in India. The Indian doctors estimate a cost of surgery which is about $10,000-$15,000. Unfortunately, the family cannot afford any of it. We have tried to find help through foundations in the USA and global charities for children’s health but have been unable to get any assistance. We appeal to you as one of our last resorts. Abigail is pictured here in better days with her mom. The family lives in poverty and relies on us to pay for schooling for Abigail.
She is a serious student with ambitions to help others. See her essay below about “What I would change about myself:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to contribute, you can donate through our Go Fund Me Page https://www.gofundme.com/abigails-heart-surgery. Please note these funds will not be commingled with educational funds.. It is a totally separate campaign to save her life.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. We will be sure to keep you posted on Abigail’s progress.
